FC Barcelona 3-0 Aston Villa: Raphinha and Yamal Seal Impressive Champions League Victory

FC Barcelona put on a masterclass at the Spotify Camp Nou, securing a comfortable 3-0 victory over Aston Villa in Matchday 4 of the 2026–27 UEFA Champions League. An early strike from wunderkind Lamine Yamal set the tone, before a scintillating second-half brace from Raphinha put the match out of reach and moved the Catalan giants up into second place in the league standings.

Match Summary & Key Highlights

Barcelona stamped their authority early when Lamine Yamal broke the deadlock in the 7th minute, slotting home expertly to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage. Despite creating several bright openings through the first half, Unai Emery’s Aston Villa side lacked the clinical edge in the final third to punish Barcelona’s backline.

The Blaugrana turned up the pressure after the break. Raphinha doubled the lead in the 52nd minute, finishing off a sublime trivela cross from João Cancelo. Raphinha struck again in the 64th minute, latching onto space inside the box to secure his brace and cap off a fluid team move. The strike marked Raphinha’s 23rd Champions League goal for the club, drawing him level with Robert Lewandowski as joint-third all-time scorers for Barcelona in the competition.

Aston Villa fought hard to find a consolation goal, with substitute Leon Goretzka coming closest when he rattled the post with a header following an exceptional cross from Ibrahim Mbaye. However, Joan García and the Barcelona defense held firm to comfortably see out the clean sheet.
