The Sansad Khel Mahotsav 2025, organized under the Godda Lok Sabha MP Sports Festival, continued to captivate sports enthusiasts on its third day in Deoghar. This multi-sport event, bringing together athletes from across the region including parts of Godda, Dumka, and Deoghar districts, showcased remarkable talent in athletics, wushu, and badminton. Broadcasted by Prasar Bharati Sports (Doordarshan Sports), the highlights from Day 3 featured intense competitions, record-breaking performances, and inspiring moments of sportsmanship.
Athletics: Power, Speed, and Endurance on Display
The athletics arena was buzzing with energy as finalists battled it out in various events. The day kicked off with the men’s discus throw final, where athletes demonstrated exceptional technique and strength. Saurabh Raj clinched the gold with an impressive throw of 25.71 meters, followed closely by MD Kaif Khan at 24.60 meters for silver, and Priyanshu securing bronze with 23.01 meters. Subhash Kumar Yadav finished fourth, rounding out a competitive field.
In the 800-meter races, endurance was put to the test across multiple categories. The senior boys’ final saw Pritam Tudu dominate, crossing the finish line in 2 minutes and 20 seconds to claim gold. Jwala Dubey earned silver with a time of 2 minutes and 23 seconds.
The under-17 boys’ 800m was equally gripping, with Sachin Kumar taking first place, Suman Kumar grabbing silver (2:31), and Vishal Kishore Paswan earning bronze (3:11).
On the women’s side, the senior 800m featured a strong performance from Sana (also referred to as Nawaz or Sabina in reports, likely due to variations in naming), who won gold in 2 minutes and 57 seconds. Jiya Kumari took silver in 3 minutes and 4 seconds, while Ranjula Kumari claimed bronze.
The under-17 girls’ 800m highlighted young talent, with Sonam Kumari securing gold, Divya Bharti silver, and Laxmi Kumari bronze. These races emphasized the importance of strategy, such as positive and negative splits, in middle-distance running.
Wushu: Fierce Fights and Skillful Maneuvers
Shifting to combat sports, the wushu (referred to as “Bushu” in the highlights, possibly a regional or transcriptional variant) competitions delivered high-octane action. In the 70kg junior boys’ final, Tarun (in red gear) faced off against Prince (in blue). Tarun’s aggressive punches and kicks led to a decisive victory, showcasing the sport’s emphasis on speed, balance, and stamina.
In the 24kg Bhargava category, young athletes Ananya Raj and Shrijal Raj competed fiercely. Shrijal’s quick footwork and effective punches earned him the gold, overcoming Ananya’s determined efforts.
These bouts, held under strict refereeing, highlighted wushu’s role in building focus and physical prowess among participants.
Badminton: Precision and Agility at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium
The day also featured exciting badminton action at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium. In a main singles knockout match, Abhishek and Utsav Kumar traded powerful shots and strategic returns. Utsav’s strong serves and backhand plays kept the crowd engaged, with the score reaching tense moments like 7-10 and 13-1 in the second game. The match exemplified the skill and anticipation required in high-level badminton.
A Celebration of Sports and Community
Day 3 of the Sansad Khel Mahotsav 2025 not only celebrated athletic achievements but also fostered community spirit in Deoghar. With emotional medal ceremonies and blessings from dignitaries like Dr. Sunil Khaware, President of the Deoghar District Olympic Association, the event inspired young athletes to pursue excellence.
